Lately, a lot of attention has been given to hands. Since ancient times, people have studied the lines and creases that criss-cross our palms seeking answers. Now, amidst the heightened emphasis on hand hygiene, might be an opportune time to reconsider our hands when seeking guidance and reassurance. Before attempting the mystic, however, we must learn the Seven Maneuvers of Hand Washing. Mastery of these skills is needed in order to expose the traces of true fortune.

'Building Community One Child at a Time'

When I first became familiar with the vision statement for Varna After School Program, I'll admit I was ambivalent. 'Building community one child at a time' seemed a lonely departure from 'it takes a village to raise a child'. However, now under the current threat of coronavirus- when social distancing is a strict dictum for us all- the words suggest to me instead an adaptive collectivism. The villages may be temporarily disbanded, but the community will remain.

In recognition of the challenges families face keeping children busy at home, VASP has launched this blog to offer diverse activity ideas and an occasional relevant resource. Featured projects require practical, accessible household materials.
