Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Q: Is VASP registered with New York Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS)? 

  • A: Yes. Varna After School is licensed and compliant with NYS OCFS Regulations (414).  Moreover, VASP engages in best practice aiming for quality care.  

 

  • Q: What are the hours of operation?

  • A: Monday - Friday 2:00pm- 5:45pm.

 

  • Q: Does the program provide care when school is not in session? 

  • A: Yes. With the exception of Federal Holidays, VASP provides full day care on ICSD scheduled vacation days from 7:45am - 5:45pm.

  • Q: Is part-time care available?

  • A: Yes. You can sign your child up for the specific days you need care. VASP will also accept registered children on a drop-in basis, if there is space available.

  • Q: Is transportation provided?

  • A: Yes! Transportation is provided by Ithaca City School District from any ICSD elementary school to VASP.

 

  • Q: How much does VASP cost? 

  • A: Full-time (Monday-Friday) tuition is $16/day for after school care.

  • Q: Are DSS subsidies accepted?

  • A: Yes.

 

  • Q: How do I register my child?

  • A: The first step is getting in touch with us. 

  • To register, we require families to visit our program. During your visit, you and your child will meet the staff and get a tour of the facility. Registration papers can be filled out during your visit, or emailed back to us at a later time. There is a parent handbook you are responsible for reading and a one-time non refundable deposit fee to secure your child's spot.

  • Q: How can I help or be involved?

  • A: Thanks for asking! You can help by spreading the word about VASP.  Monetary or material donations of many kinds are also very welcome.
